Yesterday we had a treat. Kevin Sears gave an insightful talk about his work ethic and his focus on goals.
He shared two things that are key to his success:
Ø Look for people that have succeeded in something and speak with them about our business
Ø For a goal to be achieved it must be broken down into small repeatable steps that we do EVERY day – without skipping a day
As a Sapphire marching toward Emerald, he revealed his success has not been an easy journey. He spent almost a year at 3% talking to people that would give him nods and some encouragement, however once they joined, they seemed to disappear. When he discovered that he was approaching the wrong people, his level of success changed.
As he said it, “People who have been successful at any other endeavor, sports, writing, or business all have one thing in common. They understand that putting your head down and doing the work will get you to your goal.” He goes on to say that working with successful people is easier because they have a work ethic that most people still have to develop.
Kevin further explained that the CORE Principles are key to growing this business. He shared that surprisingly his shortfall on CORE was not what everyone suspected. It was reading. To read 20 minutes a day just seemed like too big of a challenge – so he never did it. He claimed the way he got thru school was to watch the movie of a book and never read the book.
Working with his upline, they adjusted the goal to read just 10 pages a day and stop. His work ethic enabled him to read those ten pages because it was not a time driven goal but a specific in size goal. Having established the “10” page rule he has completed this task each day for the last two months and has read two books and well into his third. He shared that the funny thing is that to read those 10 pages it often takes him 20 to 30 minutes but he gets his task done. In fact claims he has read more books in the last two months than all of prior 30 years.
The point is make your goals achievable. His goal was not to read a half dozen book but rather read just 10 pages a day. Your goal to Platinum is not to sign up 20 people but rather make one appointment a day to show the plan. Achieve that goal one small step at a time.
ACTIONS FOR YOU
Break down your Goals into simple and manageable steps.
For this business, CORE is something you accomplish each day to achieve a goal.
Ø Make an appointment to show the plan 4 times a week
Ø Read 20 minutes a day
Ø Listen to one CEP a day
Ø Attend all Meetings (Open Previews, BBS, and Weekend Seminars)
Ø Do 150 PV each month
Ø Be a team player
Define what your goals and write them down. Then take a moment to look at your goals and establish a task that can be done today and each day that will take you to your goal. Commit to yourself that you will do this task each day. In a short time, the large goal will appear to be closer to a reality.
