Saturday’s Business Building Seminar (BBS) had a great deal of information about products and a perspective on our business I had heard before but not really focused on.
As for products, the new Body Key bundle is absolutely a must buy for you and your group. In the bundle is about $450 worth of NEW products including GLUTON FEE bars, chips and shakes for less than half the cost. We bought two – One to try and one to use as samples for new prospects and at startups.
The new perspective was from Melody Farrell. She has had a unique perspective of this business. She is the third generation of business builders. Being the daughter of Crowns Sharon and Skip Ross she has grown up with the knowledge that this business works. Sharon Ross is the daughter of Bernice Hanson, one of the first IBOs in our business.
Melody’s belief is that the Amway business is the only business where you get to decide on who you want to work with. Think about it! In traditional business your employer picks your coworkers.
She asked “what is the special magic the Diamonds have to build a business verses others who joined and then dropped out or just didn’t build”. With the Amway business there isn’t a shortcut to success – only through hard work do you succeed. What she did share was the real value is to create a reason to build the business. Her reasons are unique and worth sharing.
Melody stated their business exists for the following reasons:
Ø Exists to develop time/freedom for family and me to decide on how to share it with others
Ø Exists to provide financial freedom
Ø Exists so I can be the best person I can/want to be
Ø Exists to provide an atmosphere of joy, hope and optimism
Ø Exists to provide these benefits to others
She further went on to expand on each of these points. What I found interesting was that each point was not really about themselves, but how they could help others. Through helping others they found their business grew.
My entire career has been about helping others achieve success. My clients in developing their construction program, developing my staff, or helping my community. Each time I have found success and even though that was not the main reason, I have been significantly rewarded for these efforts.
Melody’s comments resonated with me as she shared that through the pursuit of this business, she has become a more confident person, better speaker, more physically fit, healthier, and most of all a more optimistic person. She shared her greatest pleasure is working with a person and seeing the light in their eyes when it suddenly occurs to them that they can achieve a dream.
What was empowering was her thoughts on inclusion instead of seclusion. Recently she and Chris decided they wanted to lose some weight. Instead of focusing on just themselves, she reached out to include others in her group. By including others, the entire team benefited, collectively losing hundreds of pounds. The additional result was a building of closeness among the team as they worked together toward their goals. While not the intension, helping others lose weight also resulted in additional PV for everyone on the team.
ACTIONS FOR YOU
Each of us have gone on a mission trips where we come back feeling we got more out of the trip than we ever expected or felt we gave to others.
What I got from Melody’s comments is that she sees this business as her “Mission Trip” and by her helping others who join the team or those on the team, she gets a reward far greater than money.
So what is your reason to build this business? Do you have a passion to help others grow?
We all have a passion – some focus that passion to help others and this business can be the vehicle for that passion.
