Steve Jobs was obsessed with simplicity. He demanded every user function be one or two clicks. Three tops.
This focus on simplicity came from when he worked the night shift at Atari as a college dropout. Atari’s game manual had to be so uncomplicated, a stoned freshman could figure it out. The Star Trek game had two commands: “1. Insert quarter. 2. Avoid Klingons.”
Most leaders use this concept
Hall of Fame football coach Vince Lombardi started every Green Bay Packer training camp with these words: “Gentleman, this is a football”, as he held up the pigskin. Forcing his players to start over as beginners… never assuming prior knowledge… is part of what made him a winning coach.
Basketball legend John Wooden did the same. His first practice every year, with freshmen and seniors alike, started with a lesson on how to tie your shoes. Why? To avoid blisters. So tiny in size, but they can cripple a 6’9” superstar and render him useless.
We all should remember the basics of our business – they are simple
Ø Invite someone to see the plan
Ø Show the plan
Ø Ask them who they know we can show the plan to
Ø Show the plan
In computer programing we called this a “do loop”.
ACTIONS FOR YOU
Remember the movie, “The Karate Kid”? Daniel was itching to learn martial arts from Mr. Miyagi, the master. Miyagi agreed, but then made Daniel paint his fence and polish his car. Wax on, wax off.
Daniel was frustrated – thinking he had wasted time until his teacher revealed that the same motions were lightning-quick defense moves.
Working with a new IBO and teaching the simple basics is powerful. They then teach the basics to their new IBOs and we then are free to teach others.
These basics make it easy to achieve an income of $50,000 per year by showing the plan 100 times in 6 months. This will result in 20 people signing up – 8 will be interested and three will build.
Six months of work is a simple investment that will solidify your future.
